Bennington’s Hometown 4th of July – Fireworks – (Saturday, July 4, 2015)

Saturday, July 4, 2015 3:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Willow Park, 316 East Road, Bennington, VT 05201

  • Numerous Vendors: food, crafts and more.
  • There will be a bouncy house for children to enjoy.
  • Cloggers to perform at 5:00 and music from 6-8 p.m.
  • Fireworks will begin at 9:30.
  • Rain Date  – Sunday, July 5.

Water Department

Tuesday and Wednesday-Water crews will be making water line repairs on Pleasant Street between Park and Main Street.  This work will require some interruption of water service; individual residents will be notified prior to interruption.  This work will also require road closure to through traffic.  Road Closed signs will be posted.

Wastewater

Monday – Wednesday – Wastewater Crews will be rebuilding 3 manholes on South Stream Road.  One lane traffic will be accommodated.

Highway Department

Monday & Tuesday– East Road will be closed June 29th and June 30th.  Detour will be Hewitt Drive up to Willow Road to East Road, and Willow Road to Hewitt Drive to East Road.

Wednesday – Houghton Lane will be closed at the East Road intersection for a culvert and drop inlet installation.

Throughout the Week – Highway Crews will be  patching potholes and previous water and sewer dig sites and painting red epoxy crosswalks, a Highway Crew will continue the Benmont Avenue sidewalk project demolition between County Street and River Street on the East side.

All Work will be dependent on weather conditions.

Please use caution when entering a construction zone,

men and equipment will be in the traveled portion of the road.

Residents and Contractors – Please make sure all loads are covered when taking leaves and or brush to the transfer station.

Announcing the…

“Craft of Beer Home Brew Challenge!”

Are you are a home brewer or enjoy sampling fresh, local, home brewed beer?  Then plan to join us for The First Annual Craft of Beer Home Brew Challenge and street festival on August 1, 2015 from noon to 4pm. A section of County Street (Bennington, VT) will be closed from North Street to School Street for this unique event. Enjoy a street fair atmosphere with live bands, delicious food trucks, and of course the best home brewed beer in the area! Events will be spread throughout County St. so you can sample beer, shop, and enjoy all that the 4 Corners North has to offer! This is a family friendly event and there will be homemade root beer available.

If you are a home brewer and would like to enter the Challenge please go to www.craftofbeer.weebly.com and register now. There is a $10 registration fee and is limited to the first 50 home brewers who register. This will be a “Best of Show” competition voted on by those in attendance. The winning home brewer will work with Brewer Will from Madison Brewing Co. to upscale and brew (3.5 Barrel Batch) their winning recipe which will be on tap at the pub.

Admission to the street festival is free and $15 if you would like unlimited sampling of the home brewed beer. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the event and will include a sampling glass. Please visit www.craftofbeer.weebly.com for additional information.

The Craft of Beer Home Brew Challenge is sponsored by the B.C.I.C (Bennington County Industrial Corp.), The Tap House at Catamount Glass, and Madison Brewing Company with contributions from the Bennington Potters and Hawkins House.

Water Department

Monday and Tuesday-Water crews will be making water line repairs on Pleasant Street between Park and Main Street.  This work will require some interruption of water service; individual residents will be notified prior to interruption.  This work will also require road closure to through traffic.  Road Closed signs will be posted.

Wednesday and Thursday-Water Crews will be patching roadways throughout town at previous water dig sites.  Please use caution when approaching these work zones.

Wastewater

Tuesday and Thursday-Wastewater Crews will be rebuilding manholes on Elm Street between Dewey Street and Monument Avenue.  One-Lane Traffic may be necessary to perform this work.  Road Signs will be posted; drivers please use caution within these work zones.

Monday through Friday- Highway Crews will be patching pot holes and previous water and sewer dig sites throughout town.  Weather permitting-Highway Crews will be painting  red epoxy crosswalks on Main Street and North Street areas, if it rains a Highway Crew will begin the Benmont sidewalk project demolition between County Street and River Street on the East side.

A Highway Crew will be installing drainage along Houghton Lane, near the East Road intersection, Houghton Lane will remain open to through traffic.  A Highway Crew will begin to replace culverts along East Road

Benmont Avenue Closure- Wednesday, June 24, 2015

CLOSURE DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED!!  PLEASE NOTE NEW CLOSURE DATE.

Crews are preparing to install the new girders on phase one of the new bridge. Due to the length of the girders and the equipment required to get them into place, it is anticipated that the Benmont Avenue bridge will be closed on June 24 2015  from  6:00AM to 7:00 PM (Rain Day June 25, 2015) to unload and install girders. This means that there will be no through traffic on Benmont Ave. for this closure period. Access to all businesses along Benmont Ave. will be maintained throughout the closure period.

All Work will be dependent on weather conditions.

Please use caution when entering a construction zone,

men and equipment will be in the traveled portion of the road.

ALERT: Benmont Avenue Bridge Closure

The Benmont Avenue Bridge (Hunt St Bridge) will be closed to ALL traffic on June 17th from 1pm-2pm and on June 24th from 7am-7pm. This is due to the replacement of the steel girders that span both lanes of travel.

Saturday and Sunday – The Burt Henry Covered Bridge will be closed for repairs on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, no traffic will be allowed to cross over bridge.  Please take alternate routes.

Water Department

Monday through Thursday-Water crews will be making water line repairs on Pleasant Street between Park and Main Street.  This work will require some interruption of water service; individual residents will be notified prior to interruption.  This work will also require road closure to through traffic.  Road Closed signs will be posted.

Wastewater

Monday through Thursday-Wastewater Crews will be making manhole repairs on Elm Street between Dewey and Monument Avenue.  This work may require one-lane traffic.  Watch for sign postings.

Highway Department

Monday through Friday – Highway Crews will be painting crosswalks red throughout town, please do not drive across the coned off sections.  Highway crews will be patching pot holes all week and installing road signs at numerous locations.

Monday and Tuesday Houghton Lane will be closed to through traffic, all transfer station traffic shall enter from Route 7A, Highway Crews will be installing culverts on the East Road side.

Benmont Avenue Closure: Tuesday, June 23- Crews are preparing to install the new girders on phase one of the new bridge.  Due to the length of the girders and the equipment required to get them into place, the contractor is tentatively scheduled to close the north bound lane of the bridge from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (rain day, June 24) to unload and install girders.  This means that there will be no through traffic on Benmont  Ave. for this closure period. Access to all business along Benmont Ave. will be maintained throughout the closure period.
