BCSWA Seeking Comment on Draft Solid Waste Implementation Plan

April 2020 Draft Solid Waste Implementation Plan

The Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance has completed a draft Solid Waste Implementation Plan for actions the Alliance will take between 2021 and 2025. The plan describes the Alliance and the Alliance service area, provision of services such as household hazardous waste events, existing programs and services for the collection of paint, electronic waste, batteries, textiles and other materials and the provision of outreach activities for schools, businesses, institutions and for events.

Please provide comments by May 29, 2020. The Alliance will hold a public meeting on June 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Given the current COVID-19 restrictions this meeting will likely be held electronically and members of the public can participate via phone or the Internet. If the restrictions are lifted, the meeting will be held at the Arlington Town Hall. A public notice and agenda will be posted at the Alliance website two weeks prior to that meeting.

The mission of the Alliance is to reduce the amount of waste disposed in landfills, by incineration or similar means by reducing the amount of waste generated, conserving resources and promoting recycling and reuse. The Alliance consists of the towns of Arlington, Bennington, Dorset, Glastenbury, Manchester, Pownal, Rupert, Sandgate, Searsburg, Shaftsbury, Stamford, Sunderland and Woodford.
