The Town of Bennington’s staff comprises both union and non-union positions that work at ten Town facilities. Human Resources assists prospective employees with the hiring process, with applicable benefits for Town positions, and with any and all Human Resources-related functions.


 

The Town of Bennington is seeking qualified candidates for 3 open positions within the Public Works Department.  

  1. Water Division – Water/Distribution System Operator. This position primarily involves maintenance and repair of the water distribution system which includes a water filtration plant and several pump stations.   Qualifications include, at a minimum, a high school diploma, a Class 4C Vermont Water Certification or the ability to obtain one within 24 months following date of hire. Position requires a valid driver’s license maintained in good standing with 2 years driving experience. A CDL, Class B is required or must be obtained within 6 months.
  2. Sewer Division – Operator. This position involves performance of duties in the operations of a secondary sewage treatment plant and maintenance of the collection system. Qualifications include, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent (technical college desired), a Grade 1 Vermont Wastewater Certification or the ability to obtain one within 24 months following date of hire. Position requires a valid driver’s license maintained in good standing with 2 years driving experience.
  3. Water Division – Filtration Plant Operator. This position’s principal function is to operate and maintain the water filtration facility in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. This may include but is not limited to the following: water sample collection and laboratory testing, operation of a SCADA system, calibration of equipment and general maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the facility and system pump stations. Qualifications include, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent (technical college desired), a Grade 4C Vermont Water Plant Operations Certification or the ability to obtain one within 36 months following date of hire. Position requires a valid driver’s license maintained in good standing with 2 years driving experience.
