Please Be Advised: Town Offices will be CLOSED on Friday August 17th, 2018 in Observance of the Bennington Battle Day Holiday. 

Town Crews will also NOT be working Friday August 17th however State Highway Crews will continue!

  

STATE PROJECT:  Rte 7 North-South / Rte 9 East-West: VTrans/State Highway Paving Project continues this week in Bennington.   PFOA Water Line Extensions work continues as well as Town DPW Projects and State Paving Project work.  These may require road closures or lane reductions.  Please see below.

Rte 67A / North Bennington Road will be reduced to One-lane traffic from Hanaford Plaza to Water Street as this section begins PFOA Water Line Extension Work.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Bard Road will be reduced to One-lane traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work (service line connections) through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edges of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Brooklyn Bridge will be CLOSED TUESDAY to through traffic.  A Highway Crew will be repairing sidewalks on both sides of the bridge.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please find alternate route.

Grove Street Thursday will be reduced to One Lane.  A Water Department Crew will be repairing a water main leak at the County Street side.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays

Gypsy Lane continues to be CLOSED from Rte 9/West Road to Walloomsac Road to through traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through August 17th.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please find alternate route.

Harrington Road (North Benn) will be reduced to One Lane between the Henry Bridge and the Wastewater Plant to through traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays

Heaven’s Way will be Closed to through traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays

Hillside Street (North Benn) will be reduced to One Lane for through traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays

Murphy Road will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic from Austin Hill to Henry Bridge for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Park Street (North Bennington) will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Red Pine Road will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

River Road to Orebed Road will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Riverside Drive will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Royal Street (North Benn) will be reduced to one-lane traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Scott Street will be CLOSED all week to through traffic while Highway crews continue to excavate, remove & replace sidewalks, curbing and water valves.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use find Alternate Route.

Silk Road will be reduced to One-lane traffic for Paving Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

South Street from Crescent Blvd to Merson St will be reduced to One-Lane traffic MONDAY.  Highway Crews will be patching the roadway.  Men & equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays for the next week.

Susan Taylor Lane & Asa Way (North Bennington) will be reduced to one-lane traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Walloomsac Road will be OPEN but reduced to One-lane traffic through August 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

**William H. Morse Airport may be accessed by way of Dermody Road

Wilkie Way will be reduced to one-lane traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Aug 17th, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

 

TOWNWIDE:

Highway Crews continue Roadside Mowing, sign replacements, crosswalk painting and road patching due to water digs around town.  Water Department Crews will also be working on valve boxes across town in many areas.  Many roads may be reduced to One-lane.  Men and equipment will be in, or on the edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

 

STATE PROJECT:  Rte 7 North-South / Rte 9 East-West:

The Bennington Paving Project continues along Route 9 in the vicinity of the 4 Chimneys Inn and continues east for approximately 2 miles through downtown Bennington and ends at the state highway limits, near (Bakkerij Krijnen).  The Route 7 portion of the project begins near the Park Lawn Cemetery and continues north for approximately 1.5 miles to Veteran’s Memorial Drive (near the Chamber of Commerce).

Work to be performed includes cold planning of the existing pavement, surface preparation, paving with a leveling course and a wearing course, drainage, line striping and stop bar detection.  There will be temporary parking restrictions throughout the week of 8/13 within the active milling operation each day. The primary focus for milling through August 17th will be Route 7.  Please be advised that cars remaining in temporary no parking areas when work commences each morning will be towed at the owner’s expense. This is necessary in order to allow construction activities to progress.   As soon as parking can be safely re-opened, the contractor will do so.

Paving shim coating on Route 9 will take place early in the week of August 13th.  Motorists are urged to use caution when driving on milled surfaces and pay close attention to raised structures in the roadway.  Please take caution as men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Expect Delays.
