Week of September 17 – 21, 2018

 STATE PROJECT:  Rte 7 North-South / Rte 9 East-West: VTrans/State Highway Paving Project continues this week in Bennington.   PFOA Water Line Extensions work continues as well as Town DPW Projects and State Paving Project work.  These may require road closures or lane reductions.  Please see below.

Rte 67A / North Bennington Road will be reduced to One-lane traffic from Hanaford Plaza to Water Street as this section continues with PFOA Water Line Extension Work.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Dewey Street will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic between Elm St and Weeks St all week.  Highway Department continues with sidewalk & curbing work.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Murphy Road will be CLOSED MON, TUES & WED from Austin Hill to Paper Mill Bridge for PFOA Water Line Extension Work. Men and equipment will be in the roadway. Please Find Alternate Route.

Murphy Road will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic Thursday & Friday for PFOA Water Line Extension Work.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Pleasant Street THURSDAY will be CLOSED from North St to School St to through traffic while a Sewer crew works on the Splash Pad project.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please use find Alternate Route.

Royal Street (North Benn) will be reduced to one-lane traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Sept 21st, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Scott Street continues to be CLOSED all week to through traffic while Highway crews pour concrete, topsoil and work on finishing this project.  Men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Please find Alternate Route.

South Branch Street WEDNESDAY will be reduced to One-Lane Traffic while a Water crew repairs a water valve.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

Susan Taylor Lane & Asa Way (North Bennington) will be reduced to one-lane traffic for PFOA Water Line Extension Work through Sept 21st, 2018.  Local traffic (including buses) WILL be accommodated.  Men and equipment will be on edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

 

TOWNWIDE:

Highway Crews continue Roadside Mowing and road patching around town. Hartigan Services will be cleaning Storm Drains across town.   Many roads may be reduced to One-lane.  Men and equipment will be in, or on the edge of the roadway.  Please use Caution and Expect Delays.

 

STATE PROJECT:  Rte 7 North-South / Rte 9 East-West:

Crews will continue adjusting manholes and storm drain structures throughout this week along Route 7.  One-lane alternating traffic will be required.  Depending on the location of these structures, at times it becomes necessary to temporarily restrict parking in these areas. Crews work as diligently as possible to reopen these parking areas as quickly as possible.  Please be advised that cars remaining in temporary no parking areas when work commences each morning will be towed at the owner’s expense.  This is necessary in order to allow construction activities to progress.  As soon as parking can be safely re-opened, the contractor will do so.

Paving of final (wearing course) is tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 9/18. Paving operations are currently scheduled to begin at the intersection of Routes 7 & 9 and progress east along Route 9.

Work on sidewalk ramps along Route 7 is scheduled to begin the week of 9/17.  PLEASE STAY OFF OF FRESH CONCRETE AND FOLLOW SIDEWALK CLOSURE DETOURS. Permanent sign installation will continue along Route 9 and may possibly finish sign work along Route 9 by the end of next week and move onto sign work along Route 7.

Motorists are urged to use caution when driving on milled surfaces and pay close attention to raised structures in the roadway.  Please take caution as men and equipment will be in the roadway.  Expect Delays.

 

State Paving Project: North Bennington Rte 67 / Rte 67A

Paving of the shim coat is scheduled to be completed along Route 67A/67 on Monday, 9/17, weather permitting.  Paving is currently scheduled to begin on the North end of the village and progress south.  Paving is weather dependent and inclement weather conditions affect the paving schedule.
