Notice: Bennington Water System PFOA Free

BENNINGON, VT (February 26, 2016 @ 6:40PM EST) – Notice was given to the Town of Bennington today, that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had tested the Town’s municipal water system in 2015, and that the system was virtually PFOA free.

PFOA is a carcinogenic chemical, that was recently found in private water sources (well water) around the former ChemFab plant that operated on Water Street in North Bennington.

The Bennington municipal system was tested at both its water treatment facility, as well as Morgan Spring, which provides a significant portion of the town’s water from an underground aquifer. Both sites resulted in ‘non-detect’ indications for PFOA.
