Week of November 9 – November 13, 2015

Water Department

Ongoing-The Water Department will be closing Monument Avenue to all through traffic between Hospital Drive and Dewey Street. This road closure will last approximately the next 4-weeks.  The entrance at Hospital Drive and Southern Vermont College will remain accessible by way of Monument Avenue through the rest of this project.  The closure is necessary to accommodate the installation of a new water main along this section of Monument Avenue.

As always, we apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause and appreciate your cooperation during this process.

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday-The water department will making a water main repair on East Main Street between Branch Street and Burgess Road. This work will require that the eastbound lane be closed.  Traffic control will be provided but motorist should expect minor delays and may want to seek alternate routes of travel.

Thursday & Friday-The Highway Department may be repairing this same section of roadway. The same conditions will apply when this road restoration occurs.

Highway Department

Monday -Wednesday

Guard rails will be installed on River Road and will be closed to all through traffic, River Road will reopen on Wednesday to all traffic.

Throughout the Week

Highway crews will be patching previous water digs throughout town along with ditches and road grading. Highway crews will be tree trimming in various locations.

Overnight Parking Ban begins November 15, 2015

The Winter Overnight Parking Ban for all streets within the town will be in effect from November 15 to March 31 between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Police will enforce this ban by ticketing individuals who leave unattended vehicles on the street during that time.

The Town of Bennington Transfer Station will accept leaves for no charge. If you bring in bags you must empty the bags of leaves into the leaf pile. Residents and Contractors- Please make sure all loads are covered when taking leaves and or brush to the transfer station.
