All area residents are advised of the following:

With the amount of snow currently on roofs and predictions of more to come, some of it heavy, building owners should inspect barns and other buildings especially low sloped roofs of residences for signs of weakening or collapse.  Safe practices should be utilized when removing snow build-ups on roofs. Qualified building and roofing contractors should be contacted who have experience with roof snow removal.

Check the vents for your heating system to make sure they are not blocked by snow; take a close look at direct vents that are located lower down on exterior walls. A blocked vent can lead to Carbon Monoxide backing up into your home.

If there is a fire hydrant near your home, assist the local Fire Department by helping to get it shoveled out, hydrants should be clear for three feet in every direction.  Building owners with private hydrant systems do the same.  Many thanks to those that have helped so far.
