Benn Hi Public Meetings

A public meeting on the Benn Hi Redevelopment project was held on Wednesday, October 19. The issue was taken up again by the Select Board on Monday, October 24.

An informational web page with all available project materials and documents is available at: https://benningtonvt.org/benn-hi-redevelopment/

The Benn Hi Project was a top priority for the use of ARPA funds as identified through a public process that began in 2021 and was approved for further study in April of 2022. The redevelopment includes a number of long held goals for the town; rehabilitating an iconic building, a gymnasium for the community, and additional housing that includes affordable and market rate units.

The project also would give the town a new larger home for the Senior Center, a new larger space for Meals on Wheels, an auditorium and performance space, a climbing wall, additional space for local YMCA youth and adult programming, as well as additional space available for other Town and community programming needs.

Town staff has been doing its due diligence on all aspects of the proposed project. The purpose of the public meeting will be to give a presentation of those findings to the Select Board and the community. The presentation will be followed by a formal question and answer period with the architects, developers, and town staff who will be available to answer all questions. After the formal question and answer period, the same group will remain available to have informal discussions and answer questions with anyone interested in the project.
