Bennington-Wilmington (Route 9 Paving)

Proposed Work Schedule, Week of 9/4/17,  BENNINGTON-WILMINGTON SURF (51)[Route 9 Paving]

PROJECT LOCATION: The Bennington-Wilmington paving project begins in the town of Bennington along Route 9 just west of the junction of Route 279 and Route 9 and continues easterly along Route 9 for approximately 23.5 miles. This paving project will include the towns of Bennington, Woodford, Searsburg and Wilmington, and ends at the Wilmington-Marlboro town line. 

Work on the Wilmington area of the project will begin at the Wilmington-Marlboro Town line (near the Horizon Inn) and end at Lind Lane in Searsburg. This section of work has a completion date of 10/13/17.

Work to be performed includes shoulder widening, cold planing existing pavement, surface preparation (including crack sealing, pothole repair and patching), new layer of asphalt paving, installation of rumble strips in designated areas, pavement markings, and other related highway items.

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY: Crews will be off the road by noon on Friday, 9/1/17 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Work will resume on Tuesday, 9/5/17 at 7:00 AM.

PAVING: Intermediate course of pavement of the main portion of the road (mainline) through downtown Wilmington has been completed. A few small areas of paving remain, and are scheduled for completion today (Thursday, 8/31).

Side roads that have been milled are scheduled to be paved next week on Thursday and Friday (9/7-9/8).

COLD PLANING: Crews are scheduled to cold plane side roads and driveways along the project Thursday and Friday, (8/31-9/1).

Cold planing will commence on the Wilmington-Marlboro town line and head east next week towards the junction of Rt. 9 and Rt. 100S. This will be ongoing all week, beginning Tuesday, 9/5. One lane alternating traffic may be necessary at times.

LINE STRIPING: Crews are scheduled to paint temporary lines along the areas paved with intermediate course of pavement. This work will be done on Friday, 9/1/17. One lane alternating traffic will be in effect during line striping operations.

STRUCTURES: Crews are scheduled to adjust the height of structures throughout the week of 9/4/17. Structures include man holes, water valves, storm drains, etc… While lane closures around these operations are possible, every effort will be made to maintain two-way traffic through the village on these days. No work will be performed on Monday, 9/4.

TRAFFIC DELAYS: Paving, milling and line striping operations and work on structures will require lane closures in the location of these operations. One-way alternating traffic will be required. Flaggers and uniformed traffic officers will be on site directing the flow of traffic. Delays are expected.

Please focus on safety when driving through the construction work zone and remember, it is against the law to use a hand held cell phone while driving in Vermont.
