  January 27, 2015 Winter Storm Update

BENNINGTON (4:00PM EST) – The Town of Bennington has begun preparations for the possibility of an extreme winter storm that could impact the town over the next 36 hours. According to the National Weather Service, Bennington and the surrounding areas are expected to see between 10-18 inches of snow beginning Monday evening and continuing thru late Tuesday evening. It is likely that higher elevations could see up to 24 inches of snow during this time.

Town officials are asking travelers to stay off the roads and sidewalk to the best of their ability throughout the morning on Tuesday, while road crews work to clear the heaviest of snow. No vehicles should be parked on town streets during this weather event, especially between the hours of 2am-6am.

Additionally, Bennington’s Senior Center and Recreation Center will be closed on Tuesday, January 27th.

Town highway crews are fully prepared for the possibility of an extreme storm, and will work to the best of their ability to ensure safe travel conditions.  Emergency personnel have also begun the necessary planning to provide continued services for the areas.
