Orchard Village – Willowbrook Pathway Opening Ceremony

About two dozen people gathered to celebrate the completion of the Orchard Village – Willowbrook Pathway on Thursday, October 28th. A project first envisioned 10 years ago, the new multi use lighted pathway provides a safe route for community members to access school and shopping.
Speakers at the ribbon cutting ceremony included Mark Anders and Jim Sullivan from the Bennington County Regional Commission; Jeannie Jenkins, chair of the Bennington Select Board; Laura Boudreau, Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union Assistant Superintendent; Stephanie Lane, Executive Director of Shires Housing; and Donna Bazyk, principal at Molly Stark School.
Community members, Molly Stark students, and people who worked on the project were on hand to celebrate the occasion which was accompanied by picture-perfect fall weather.
This pathway will link to the Rail-Trail Pathway work that is currently underway and is expected to be completed in 2022. This will result in a continuous pedestrian and bike path connecting Northside Drive with Downtown Bennington – another important piece in the town trail system that is underway.
