Public Works Notice

Over the next few weeks, the Town of Bennington Public Works Department will remove sediment from the Roaring Branch that has accumulated under and in the vicinity of the Park Street Bridge since Tropical Storm Irene.  The sediment is being removed in accordance with a sediment management plan developed by the engineering firm of Milone & MacBroom and approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and VT Agency of Natural Resources. The purpose of the sediment management plan is to protect Town-owned bridges from flood damage.  Heavy equipment will be working in the river and dump trucks will be hauling sediment to the Town’s materials storage area just north of the Transfer Station on Houghton Lane.  All required Federal and State permits have been obtained.
