Water Department

Throughout the Week

The Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout town this week.  This is done in the spring and fall of each year to rid the water system of any debris and rust that tends to form in some of Bennington’s Old Cast Iron water mains.  Every precaution is taken to maintain a safe and potable drinking water during this process. Some residents will see a slight discoloration of their tap water, which can be taken care of by running a cold-water tap for a short period of time.

Wastewater Department


Throughout the Week

Wastewater crews will be rebuilding manholes on Northside Drive.


Wastewater crews will rebuilding a manhole at the intersection of Northside Drive and Orchard Road, traffic control will be provided.

Highway Department

Throughout the Week

Coleville Bridge project will resume, the detour will be opened back up through the Fish Hatchery during work hours.

Highway crews will be painting crosswalks throughout town and installing street signs.


Orebed Road will be closed between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to through traffic, highway crews will be performing tree work.

Highway crews will be rebuilding a catch basin on North Branch Street near the Brooklyn Bridge, there will be lane restrictions on the west side of North Branch Street.

Tuesday – Friday

Highway crews will be washing bridges on the outside roads, please use caution in these work zones.

Highway crews will be patching around rebuilt manholes along Northside Drive.

All Work will be dependent on weather conditions.

Please use caution when entering a construction zone,

men and equipment will be in the traveled portion of the road.


Residents and Contractors – Please make sure all loads are covered when taking leaves and or brush to the transfer station.
