Water Department

Throughout the Week-The Water Department will continue flushing fire hydrants throughout town this week.  This is done in the spring and fall of each year to rid the water system of any debris and rust that tends to form in some of Bennington’s Old Cast Iron water mains.  Every precaution is taken to maintain a safe and potable drinking water during this process. Some residents will see a slight discoloration of their tap water, which can be taken care of by running a cold-water tap for a short period of time.

Wastewater Department

Monday & Thursday-Wastewater crews will be rebuilding manholes on Northside Drive Monday and Thursday of next week.

Highway Department

Throughout the Week-Highway Crews will finish top soiling along last years’ sidewalk projects; including Bradford Street and Safford Street.

A painting crew will complete downtown painting, lanes will be restricted with road cones.

Highway Crews will be installing new road signs throughout town.

Monday-The Coleville Road bridge will be closed, Highway Crews will be installing a membrane on the bridge deck.  Please use the detour through the Fish Hatchery, this bridge will remain closed until the pavement is in place.

Tuesday-A culvert will be reset on Fox Hill Road, traffic flow should not be disturbed.

Wednesday-Houran Road will be closed to through traffic from Pucker Hill Road to the Vail Road, the Highway Department is replacing a culvert.

All Work will be dependent on weather conditions.

Please use caution when entering a construction zone,

men and equipment will be in the traveled portion of the road.



Residents and Contractors – Please make sure all loads are covered when taking leaves and or brush to the transfer station.
