Bennington Trailfest is a free event for hikers and the community! Our inaugural event was held in 2022 and attracted about 200 people including 40-50 thru hikers. The event will be held each year towards the end of July.
The 2023 Bennington Trailfest will be on July 29, 2023

Bennington Trailfest
Bennington Trailfest - Saturday, July 30, 2022 - Noon to 3 pm
Activities on the 30th will be geared to both trail hikers and the Greater Bennington Community. All attendees will be able to enjoy free food, live entertainment, trail skill demonstrations and participate in hiking workshops all geared towards increasing awareness of the A.T. and Long Trail and celebrating Bennington becoming an officially designated Appalachian Trail Community™.
Recreation Center • 655 Gage Street, Bennington, VT
Entertainment includes live music by Greg Van Houten and Cindy Baxter who will be performing from 1 pm to 2 pm. Bring a chair! A trivia contest on hiking and local history will follow with prizes. A hiker "trail talk" will happen at 2:25 pm as well.
Hikers will be provided transportation to and from the Route 9 Trailhead to the Trailfest event along with a place to camp, lunch Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Transportation will be available on July 30 from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm between the event and the trailhead.

Hikers can stop by the registration table for more information on staying overnight. Volunteers will also be on hand to drive hikers to grocery stores for re-supply if desired.
The Bennington Appalachian Trail (A.T.) Community, a volunteer-run community group committed to raising awareness of the A.T. in Southwestern Vermont. The event will increase support and stewardship of this outdoor recreational resource while also supporting hikers and building awareness in the hiking community of the benefits of stopping in Bennington or using our town as a base while hiking the trail.
We look forward to celebrating with all hiking enthusiasts, those interested in learning more about hiking, and all community members just wanting to have a good time.

Bennington Appalachian Trail (A.T.) Community
In June of 2021, Bennington was designated an A.T. Community. Our volunteer-run community group is committed to raising awareness of the A.T. in Southwestern Vermont. The Appalachian Trail Community™ program, administered by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, recognizes towns and cities that help promote and protect the A.T.
