TOWN OFFICES RE-OPENING PLAN

Effective June 1st, 2021

The Town of Bennington’s Town Offices will re-open to the public under the following guidelines.

  1. Entrance & Exits:
  • The front entrance door shall be the single public entrance into the Town Offices. Signage will be installed to direct the public to the front door.
  • Side Doors will remain locked to the public for entrance with signage posted directing the public to the front door. Public may utilize the side door at hallway leading to and from reception area for exit.
  • Side doors may be accessed by staff only for entrance and exit.
  • This circulation pattern enables controlled access of the general public to both the Town Clerk & Collections lobby area where additional plexiglass shields are in place as well as access to the Planning, Permitting & Code Enforcement Department/Reception counter that also has plexiglass shields in place. Conference Room #1 Door at reception area will remain closed throughout day to discourage public traffic into Town Clerk’s area.

      2. Masks:

  • All public and non-vaccinated employees must wear a mask within the Town Offices until further notice. Non-vaccinated employees may remove their mask while working alone in their personal workspace. Vaccinated employees must wear a mask in presence of the public; however, may remove their mask while working with other vaccinated employees. Disposable masks will be available inside the entrance at the front door, in the Collections & Clerk lobby area for members of the public to use if they do not have a mask. If any member of the public refuses to wear a mask, contact a supervisor immediately.

     3. Lobby and Corridor 6 feet Spacing Markers:

  • Corridor and lobby/reception areas will be marked with 6 feet social distancing marks on the floor. Narrow hallways will require courtesy when two or more individuals approach each other.

     4. Conference Room, Town Clerk Vault, and Individual Office/Departments:

  • Individual departments shall wear a mask and maintain 6 feet spacing within their respective department areas and offices while dealing with the public. When not in the presence of the public, fully vaccinated employees are not required to wear a mask or maintain 6 feet spacing.

      5.  Collections Front Porch Window Service:

  • The Collections window service will continue as an option for use to minimize public members in the Town Offices particularly during peak periods.

      6. Hand Sanitizer and Disposable Masks:

  • Wall mounted hand sanitizer dispensers are located in the Collections & Clerk lobby area as well as on the wall near the restroom in the hallway between the Assessors’ Office and the Planning, Permitting & Code Enforcement Department.  An additional hand sanitizer stand type station located in the Collections & Clerk lobby area will be installed to encourage public use.
  • Disposable masks will be placed in the Collections & Clerk lobby area for members of the public to use if they do not have a mask. If any member of the public refuses to wear a mask, contact a supervisor immediately.
  • Disposable mask availability will be re-evaluated as mask wearing guidance continues to be modified.

       7. Re-location of Drop Box and Pickup Box:

  • The Drop Box and Pick Up box from the side door will be relocated to the front porch to emphasizes the use of the front door as the public access and interaction point for the Town Office.
