Town Manager's Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Town of Bennington and specifically to our website. Bennington is home to more than 15,000 people, and it is no wonder these people have chosen to live in such a terrific place. It is this location that has proven beneficial for Bennington as far back as the Revolutionary War when it was a key supply depot for the Americans against the invading British in 1777. That same belief holds true today, but for different reasons. Because of our location in the state and our proximity to major markets like Albany, Boston, and New York City, many find the Vermont small-town feel and rural landscape to be ideal for personal and professional ventures, including the ability to work long distances remotely.

2024 is my 31st year as Bennington’s Town Manager, and my 51st year with the Town of Bennington. During that time I have experienced a number of economic climates, community visions, and interesting individuals; however, none compare to the vibrant and exciting world we live in today. Even with everything that is happening across the globe, Bennington continues to experience strong business growth, a decreasing unemployment rate, and an extremely low crime rate. All of which make Bennington an ideal place to start a business and raise a family.
